DAVE WARNKE
ABOUT DAVE WARNKE
DAVe Warnke
b. 1971
In his paintings and drawings, DAVe creates a vibrant landscape populated by a collection of cheerful creatures. The resulting artworks are eye candy: sweet, silly, and fun to view. With his characteristic style of bright colors, simplified shapes, and bold graphic lines, DAVe attempts to recapture the joy and vitality of his childhood artwork. Oftentimes, DAVe brings his fantastical world directly to the urban landscape, intending to brighten up public spaces with good-natured, silly intervention.
DAVe studied painting and printmaking at the San Francisco Art Institute and earned a BFA from Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology in Dublin, Ireland. His paintings and drawings have been exhibited worldwide, including at The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art in North Adams, Massachusetts and the Grassi Museum in Leipzig, Germany. DAVe is an artist and educator who lives in Oakland, California with his wife and two daughters. His public art can be seen throughout the Bay Area and around the world.
